Makeup tips

Yes we can rock brights!

Conventional wisdom suggests that darker skinned sisters should stay away from the uber-bright makeup (anyone remember the eighties? not a good time for so many) but there has been a revolution since then no longer are brights panic inducing neon orange or ash inspiring frosts. Modern brights are deeply pigmented and compliment our skin tones beautifully.

Pink lips: choose a deep pink lipstick with lots of pigment, line lips with a matching deep pink liner and to pump up the power of your Barbie pout add a slick of hot pink gloss. Keep eye make-up subtle with browns and purples.

Not for the faint-hearted or the serial kissers!

Eyepoppers!

Falsies, definitely a girl's best friend. Many black women have short eyelashes, sorry ladies but that is just the way it is, never fear however with the newest crop of false eyelashes you too can be
rocking those lashes and pretending they were yours like Kerry Washington for Revlon.

Add a flash of bright colour to the lids and you'll have them screaming with envy every time you blink!

Ri Ri shopaholic

Bajan Diva Rihanna just loves to shop a passion with which I wholly identify, (and if I had her budget I'd indulge with the same wicked enthusiasm) BUT I'm not loving some recent purchases by Ms. Fenty exhibit A, the carcas of an ostrich over leather tights? My eyes hurt just looking at this outfit, somebody call the RSPCA!

Exhibit B, Gladiator KNEE HIGH SANDALS!!! Really love, the shirt was enough to make me reach for the Panadol but them shoes, what were you thinking? love ya but sorry.

RiRi, the Village People would appreciate if you'd stop raiding their closet.

BUT, there is redemption for our lovely princess, this uber-chic outfit, short denim shorts and a crisp white shirt, that she sported to watch her 'friend' Chris Brown perform was so smoking in its casual chicness I can almost forgive her all of the above...almost but not quite.

I stared at this dress for a long time before I could decide if I loved it or hated it, it kinda looks like someone stapled her petticoats up to keep them out of rain filled puddles and I really hate her cockatoo hair BUT the more I stared the more I began to realise that this dress was brave and hip and fly without resorting to gladiator knee high sandals and for that relief I love it!

Gabrielle Union is yummy coming and going

Despite a No-Show by "star" Eddie Murphy at the "Meet Dave" premier Gabrielle Union rocked the red carpet, coming and going with her fuchsia floor length gown and malachite coloured accessories.
